Pearl is a sixteen-year-old vampire... fond of blood, allergic to sunlight, and mostly evil... until the night a sparkly unicorn stabs her through the heart with his horn. Oops.
Her family thinks she was attacked by a vampire hunter (because, obviously, unicorns don't exist), and they're shocked she survived. They're even more shocked when Pearl discovers she can now withstand the sun. But they quickly find a way to make use of her new talent. The Vampire King of New England has chosen Pearl's family to host his feast. If Pearl enrolls in high school, she can make lots of human friends and lure them to the King's feast -- as the entrees.
“To you,” he said, “I surrender my heart and soul.”
She rolled her eyes. “Very romantic, considering you have neither.”

Synopsis: Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.
Summary: Sophie Mercer thought she was a dark witch, but then discovered she was a demon. Demons are unpredictable, some with dark histories of even murdering loved ones. Sophie doesn't want to risk killing anyone she cares about. She's made up her mind to be stripped of her powers through a process called "The Removal". However, her father, who also happens to be a demon, doesn't think this is a good idea. Instead, he brings Sophie and two good friends to England for the summer, to persuade her to change her mind. What follows is an action packed adventure, in a book that most readers will have an incredibly hard time putting down.
